For many women, the “mommy makeover” has become a popular step to take once they have decided that they are done having children. The mommy makeover is a new way to recapture the glow that you had before giving birth to children and to gently reverse the aging process.
The extent of the mommy makeover is up to each individual woman, but it generally includes one or more procedures designed to help you lose weight, sculpt your body and lift or remove sagging skin.
What Procedures are Performed?
While many people think of the mommy makeover as just one procedure, it’s actually several different procedures that take place, all at the same time. The goal here is simple – it’s designed to get you looking and feeling great as soon as possible without multiple hospital stays. Some of the most popular procedures include a tummy tuck, liposuction, breast augmentation, breast lift, breast reduction and labiaplasty.
In many ways, you can think of each of these individual procedures as addressing typical problems faced by women who have had children. For example, the tummy tuck will help to trim the size of your stomach, either by removing fat or tightening up any sagging skin. Liposuction can help to remove fat deposits in troublesome areas like your thighs, posterior, or waist.
The most common procedures are those that involve the breast area. In some cases, women may find that their breasts need a lift after years of breastfeeding, and a breast lift can return your breasts to their appearance of years ago. In addition, breast augmentation can help to increase the volume of your breasts, as well as create a more symmetrical shape to your bosom. The opposite could be true as well – after years of child rearing, some women may want to reduce their breast size via breast reduction in order to reduce back pain and other related ailments.
Why Have a Mommy Makeover?
The idea is to re-shape and re-sculpt your body to look the way it did 10, 15 or even 20 years ago. Instead of committing to years of plastic or cosmetic surgery, you can accomplish everything at one time. The one thing that you will have to keep in mind, however, is that the combination of two or more of these procedures at one time will necessarily entail a considerable recovery time.
In general, you should think about allocating six weeks of total rest and recovery time before getting back to your normal routine. The first week you’ll spend resting at home, and then the next 2-3 weeks, you’ll be slowly easing your way back. By the sixth week, though, most moms are healthy enough to go back to their regular routine.
And just think of how young and energized you will be at that time! You won’t be able to wait to show off your new body and your new shape. Best of all, you’ll be imbued with more self-confidence than you’ve had in years. Your tummy will be trim, your thighs and posterior will be nice and firm, and your breasts will look fantastic. In short, the mommy makeover is a great new way to revitalize your life, reward yourself for being a great mom and turn back the hands of time.
